My school had this week called, “I Believe” Week and one of the days was “I believe in my story.”
People wrote on these note cards starting with “If you really knew me you would know that…”
Some of these notecards said:
- “If you really knew me, you’d know that I was raped by my older brother everday.”
- “If you really knew me, you’d know that my mom is a heroin addict and it’s tearing my family apart.”
- “If you really knew me, you’d know that I had cancer when I was 5 and people made fun of me because I was different and didn’t have hair.”
- “If you really knew me, you’d know that I was sexually harassed and abused as a child.
- “If you really knew me, you’d know that I suffer from depression and I’ve attempted suicide.”
- If you really knew me, you’d know that I got into a car crash with my best friend and I held her in my arms, blood everywhere. RIP.
When people came up to read these note cards, a lot of them started crying. It made many people realize that everyone has a story and that you’re not alone.
Every single school should do this. Every. Single. One.

I was raped when I was 14. I was left violated, bruised and bleeding with any naivety and innocence I had completely stolen from me. The fact that someone even thought that this bill would be a good idea makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. Rape is rape. It doesn’t matter if it’s a stranger on the street or your boyfriend who doesn’t listen when you say you don’t want to. NO MEANS NO. It is never a subliminal yes. It doesn’t need redefining. If anything, it needs harsher punishments for rapists.

i can’t even believe this. we’ve fought so hard for any form of sexual assault to be taken seriously, and this is taking us so many steps back. i don’t even have the words to describe how horrible this makes me feel. if you’re following me, you probably know how much it would mean to me if you could just take 5 minutes and sign this. please don’t just read past this and go on reblogging. you might think it doesn’t affect you at all, so why bother? but just think of your mother, your sister, your best friend, your girlfriend, your children. what if it was them? it does matter.
I don’t live in America but naturally I am appalled at this. How can you define rape? What is the difference between forcible or statutory? That’s fucking sick and inhumane.
A good way to cut back the budget would be to cut the politicians pay checks-god forbid!
If you live in the US please sign this!
